That’s why collaborating with former Yaya Touré midfielder was something truly special for us.
As huge fans of Yaya during his Premier League years, this collaboration felt surreal. He was one of those complete midfielders who could dominate every aspect of the game.
We still remember those incredible long-range goals the kind of shots where it felt like he could shoot from the stadium parking lot and still score because his strike was that unbelievable.
The Shirts Chosen by Yaya Touré
For this collaboration, Yaya personally selected several iconic vintage football shirts connected to players and eras he admired growing up:
- Brazil 1986 because he was a fan of Sócrates
- FC Barcelona 1982-89 from the Maradona era
- Real Madrid 1998 with Redondo
- Brazil 2002 Ronaldo Nazário
What stood out to us was how passionate he still is about football history. Every time we work with former players, we notice the same thing: they remain true football fans.
They are nostalgic about the shirts, players and moments they watched as children, and often search for iconic pieces from their generation.
Why Vintage Shirts Matter
Seeing Yaya Touré post the shirts on Instagram made us incredibly proud. Beyond the visibility, it was the feeling of having successfully found the exact pieces he genuinely wanted.
Some of the shirts were not even meant to be worn Yaya wanted to frame them as collectible memories.
That’s also why historical shirts matter so much at EternalPitch. These pieces are often difficult to find and carry real emotional value. Some collectors want them for display, others want to relive memories by wearing the shirts they dreamed about as kids.
